Overview
This one day CME/CEU conference includes an evidence-based, clinically relevant series of talks and workshops for practitioners who deliver care to patients with, or at risk for, eating disorders.  Topics covered will include an update on research examining biological underpinnings of disordered eating and anorexia nervosa (AN), the utilization of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) strategies for managing challenging patient-therapist interactions, a review of treatment approaches for patients with the newly defined DSM-5 diagnosis of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in older adults. Workshops will provide practical clinical skills to address managing medical and ethical challenges that frequently arise in this high-risk population, the use of DBT to treat patients with multi-symptom profiles, somatic symptom presentations in youth with ARFID and the implementation of Family Based Treatment as well as weight loss interventions for patients with a history of disordered eating.

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $50 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on October 16, 2018. A handling fee of $50 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by October 16, 2018. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible.

  1. Discuss recent research supporting the biological basis of eating disorders
  2. Describe clinical presentations and treatment interventions for patients with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
  3. Identify practical strategies useful in the outpatient management of complex eating disorder cases
