Overview
The Patient Engagement Training (PET) is designed to: 1) Improve provider knowledge and attitudes regarding the use of patient engagement principles and communication skills; 2) Improve provider confidence in use of patient engagement principles and communication skills; and 3) Increase the use of effective communication and patient engagement skills.

Objectives
  1. Integrate three new communication techniques into practice that increase the patient-provider partnership.
  2. Apply the four components of the "patient engagement spirit" to regular patient care.
  3. Assess a patient's level of readiness for change and identify an appropriate corresponding intervention.

Accreditation
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
