Target Audience
Endocrinology, General Surgery, Otolaryngology

Overview
Many advances have been made in diagnostic modalities and treatment options for thyroid and parathyroid disease. Management concepts in these tumors are in constant flux medically and surgically. There is a large amount of information published, including guidelines, on these topics which can make it difficult for the practicing physician to stay current with new developments. This course will provide up-to-date information regarding work-up, diagnostic techniques, clinical recommendations, and treatment options for patients with thyroid and parathyroid disease, which will allow for safe delivery of state-of-the-art care for patients.

Objectives
  1. Evaluate advances in remote access approaches to the thyroid.
  2. Discuss the indications and contraindications of remote access thyroid surgery.
  3. Explain the evaluation and preoperative workup necessary prior to remote access thyroidectomy.
  4. Outline the surgical techniques available for the treatment of thyroid and parathyroid diseases.
  5. Practice contemporary surgical management approach and comprehend steps to be taken prior to surgical intervention.
