Overview
We continue to see great advances in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disease. Therapy continues to evolve in multiple directions. There are constantly new medications being approved for inflammatory bowel disease. The line is also blurring between the traditional realms of endoscopy and surgery. We are now seeing novel endoscopic approaches for the treatment of GERD, Barretts esophagus, and acute pancreatitis. To maintain their practices, gastroenterologists and surgeons need to stay up to date on a wide range of topics including approach to resecting the difficult polyp, understanding the best approach to withdrawing therapy in IBD, as well as for management of ischemic colitis, and an update on management of metabolic dysfunctionassociated steatohepatitis (MASLD); yet formal education in these areas is limited. It is difficult for practicing physicians and surgeons to stay abreast of these new advances. This year we pay special emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease with a whole day dedicated to the topic, including the addition of two distinguished outside speakers. Please join us for the Medical and Surgical Gastroenterology A Multidisciplinary Approach this is the 44th year for the course!

Objectives
  1. Apply current evidence based diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to the evaluation and management of complex gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreaticobiliary, and colorectal disorders.
  2. Evaluate indications, benefits, limitations, and appropriate clinical applications of emerging and advanced endoscopic techniques, including their use in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
  3. Integrate contemporary approaches to inflammatory bowel disease management, including intestinal ultrasound, advanced therapeutics, pouch complications, and coordination of medical, endoscopic, and surgical care.
  4. Implement updated approaches to the diagnosis and management of liver and pancreaticobiliary diseases, including MASLD, hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and IgG4related disease.
  5. Incorporate multidisciplinary advances in gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, surgery, and GI oncology into clinical decision making to improve care for patients with complex digestive diseases.
