This course consists of didactic presentations and shorter current topic lectures to keep pediatricians, family practitioners and other child health clinicians up to date on a number of clinical practice recommendations relevant topics to pediatric primary care. Some of the topics to be covered include: childhood obesity; asthma; substance use disorders; food allergies; atopic dermatitis; rheumatologic disorders; gender affirming care; syncope; depression and suicide; immunizations; hypertension; contraception and much more.

1. Apply current guideline based strategies to assess asthma severity and control, select appropriate controller and rescue medications, and create individualized written asthma action plans for acute and maintenance management
2. Recognize redflag symptoms and extraintestinal manifestations of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease, initiate and interpret initial diagnostic testing, and determine when to refer to a pediatric gastroenterologist.
3. Implement routine screening for depression in children and adolescents using validated tools, conduct a risk assessment for suicidality, and develop care plan that includes brief interventions, safety planning, and appropriate referral or collaboration with mental health specialists.
4. Evaluate eligibility for pharmacologic therapy for pediatric obesity, explain the mechanism, efficacy, and safety profiles of commonly used weight management medications, and incorporate medication initiation and follow up
5. Perform a focused evaluation for suspected pediatric concussion, apply evidencebased criteria for safe returntolearn and returntoplay, and provide clear, ageappropriate guidance to families on symptom management, activity modification, and indicators for specialty referral.
