Overview

The Inaugural Pediatric Quality and Safety Symposium: Advancing Excellence is a two-day in-person conference held at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Research and Education Building in St. Petersburg, Florida. The symposium will bring together healthcare professionals and experts in pediatric quality improvement and patient safety to explore practical approaches, current strategies, and emerging practices. Attendees can expect educational formats, such as expert-led lectures and interactive panels. Sessions will address a wide range of topics designed for those dedicated to improving pediatric outcomes and strengthening a culture of safety across the care continuum.

Objectives
  1. Apply principles of artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance quality improvement and patient safety initiatives in pediatric healthcare settings.
  2. Integrate human factors engineering and systems thinking into clinical practice to reduce error, optimize workflow, and improve team communication.
  3. Evaluate strategies that foster resiliency and adaptability among pediatric healthcare teams to sustain high performance during change, stress, and crisis.
  4. Implement evidence-based approaches from implementation science and high-reliability organizations (including NASA and Johns Hopkins Medicine) to strengthen safety culture and leadership effectiveness.
  5. Design and sustain multidisciplinary improvement initiatives that drive measurable progress toward zero harm, reliability in care delivery, and innovation in pediatric patient safety.
