Overview
Now more than ever, the pressure is on to provide high quality care while increasing efficiency and reducing costs. If you are looking for ways to heal health care from within, Lean could be your answer. Armed with Lean tools and techniques, your frontline staff can identify waste in their health care delivery processes and then reduce or eliminate that waste. Easy to learn and apply, lean methodology has helped health care organizations to realize many benefits, including reduced patient wait times, faster processing of medications, decreased risk of medication errors, less inventory and more patient-focused processes. Lean can be applied to virtually any system where waste exists.

Objectives
  1. Identify key considerations when selecting a lean project
  2. Draft the define section of a Lean A3
  3. Obtain and analyze Voice of the Customer (VOC)
  4. Create a Value Stream Map
  5. Calculate lead time, cycle time, dynamic lead time, and takt time to evaluate a process
  6. Identify process bottlenecks and waste using lean techniques
  7. Assess value-added vs non-value added tasks and understand the implication of these tasks using a balance chart
  8. Identify key interventions that align with root causes
  9. Prioritize key interventions using a PICK chart
  10. Create an effective control plan to sustain project results
