Overview
This course will explore the latest advancements in dysphagia management presenting updated practice patterns and evidence-based research. The program focuses on the intricate dynamics of swallowing and swallowing disorders, particularly in populations with complex medical problems. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the intricate interplay between various health conditions, patient anatomy and physiology and how this contributes to dysphagia. Our expert presenters will guide attendees through the latest research findings, ensuring that practice is informed by the most up-to-date evidence. By the end of this course, participants will be proficient in implementing evidence-based strategies, fostering a holistic approach to dysphagia management that considers the nuanced needs of diverse patient populations.

Objectives
  1. Demonstrate acquired insight into best practice for dysphagia and dysphagia adjacent diagnoses by sharing one learned therapy technique (e.g., EMST, Theories of Exercise Science, Management of Globus pharyngeus).
  2. Demonstrate acquired insight into evaluation measures or interdisciplinary care for dysphagia by sharing one learned therapeutic tool (e.g., QOL survey, procedure offered by laryngology/GI, classification model).
  3. Identify their involvement in the diagnosis and management of esophageal dysphagia by citing at least one method

Presented by instructors Ronit Malka, MD, Ashley Dorenden, MD, Ashley Davis, MS, CCC-SLP; and Rina Abrams, MS, CCC-SLP. Please see registration fees below.

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $25.00 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, September 13, 2024.  A handling fee of $25.00 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities.  Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by Friday, September 13, 2024. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins activity in lieu of cancellation is not possible.
