Overview

Part 1 of Teaching Skills enables participants to explore concepts and incorporate skills related to teaching and relationship-building with medical trainees, patients, and colleagues. Concepts are generally presented in total group sessions among all participants. However, most of the course time is spent in collaborative learning groups of 6-8 participants with 1-2 facilitators who stay together throughout the course. Individuals bring teaching challenges to the group, use reflection, dialogue, and feedback to get others’ perspectives, practice the skills being learned, and observe others.

Part 2 of Teaching Skills is individualized to participant needs and is based upon their experience from Part 1. Participants continue to apply and deepen concepts and skills learned in Part 1, while addressing new content areas. As in Part 1, most of the course time is spent in collaborative learning groups of 6-8 participants with 1-2 facilitators who stay together throughout the course.
