Overview

The Gynecologic Pathology conference is intended as a practical overview for pathologists who encounter gynecologic specimens in daily practice. Interpretations of endometrial, peritoneal, vulvar, and cervical biopsies will be addressed, as well as the approach to ovarian and mesenchymal neoplasms. There will be several slide sessions to accompany the lectures. Participants should gain a better understanding of the interpretation of gynecologic biopsies, ovarian and mesenchymal neoplasms and the application of modern ancillary techniques to gynecologic disorders.

This is an asynchronous, virtual course. Recordings of the lectures will be available up to a week in advance of 11/4, where learners can view at their own pace. There will be a live question and answer session with the speakers on 11/5 via Zoom.

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $25 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on October 29, 2023. A handling fee of $25 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by October 29, 2023. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins activity in lieu of cancellation is not possible.


Objectives
  1. Describe the prevalence, clinical presentation, genetic basis, and diagnosis of selected genetic syndrome associated gynecologic tumors.
  2. Identify the critical immunohistochemical studies used in the analysis of endometrial carcinomas.
  3. Describe the diagnostic criteria for fallopian tube serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) and the relationship to high-grade serous carcinoma.
  4. Describe the clinicopathologic features of sex cord-stromal ovarian neoplasms.
  5. Recognize the clinicopathologic features of vulvar inflammatory lesions.
  6. Discuss the concept and definition of mesonephric adenocarcinoma (MA) and mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma (MLA).
  7. Describe the molecular classification of endometrial cancer defined in the WHO classification of Tumors, 5th Ed., Female Genital Tumors.
  8. Describe the diagnostic criteria for cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions.
  9. Describe the immunohistochemical stains used in the analysis of peritoneal biopsies.
  10. Review the classification of gestational trophoblastic disease and the differential diagnosis of hydatidiform moles.
  11. Illustrate the use of ancillary techniques to refine diagnosis of gestational trophoblastic disease: a. *p57 immunohistochemistry b. *Molecular genotyping
  12. Demonstrate the Relationship of synchronous and metachronous mucinous tumors involving the ovary and another organ (Adventures in Masquerading) a. *Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) b. *Metastatic mucinous carcinomas (deceptive forms)
  13. Describe and illustrate diagnostic criteria of ovarian mucinous tumors.
  14. Describe the essential and desirable diagnostic criteria of mesonephric adenocarcinoma and mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma.
  15. Describe the diagnostic criteria for uterine mesenchymal neoplasms.
