Overview
The Clinical Hospital Innovation & Management Program (CHAMP) is a training program for hospital teams, specifically physician directors, nurse managers and associated administrators. The premise of the program is to bring together expertise from schools that focus on healthcare management. This interdisciplinary approach to practice management is of vital importance, especially within today’s rapidly evolving and extraordinarily complex healthcare environment. By completing this program, participants will be able to successfully operate in a hospital setting with enhanced effectiveness and efficiency that will improve patient care. The philosophy of the program is that only through inter-professional collaboration, among both the educators and learners from our multiple disciplines, can one achieve maximum team efficiency and effectiveness within health care systems. These efforts translate into enhanced value for our patients, greater satisfaction for clinicians providing care to their patients and superior patient-physician relationships. The educational modules offered through the program will be designed to address the needs of clinical and administrative leaders that work together within hospital units. By working in interdisciplinary leadership teams (composed of physician, nurse and administrative triads), the learners will have the opportunity to interact with numerous clinical and management professionals focused on optimal health care delivery. Essential to this approach will be developing skills to bridge cultural and communication barriers between these numerous professionals.

  1. Develop inter-professional teams to facilitate strategic initiatives and change management.
  2. Utilize measurements of performance to enhance quality and innovation.
  3. Apply and enhance best practices within their healthcare delivery environment.
  4. Manage operational processes and prioritization strategies in era of limited resources.
