Overview
We wish to acknowledge the support of the Johns Hopkins Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program

As the older adult population lives longer and becomes increasingly diverse, it is imperative that we offer high quality continuing education in the care and management of geriatric patients. Most physicians have received very little or no formal geriatrics training, despite this growing trend in the number of older adults they care for. The activity will improve knowledge about diseases and syndromes common in the elderly and offer practical and effective guides to their management and address cultural competence in providing care. It will address the specific challenges faced in 2020 including the COVID-19 pandemic and racial/ethnic inequities and impact on older adults and the health care team.

Our Beacham Lecture will be Why Are Health Disparities Everyone’s Problem? presented by Lisa Cooper, MD, MPH, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, Equity in Health and Healthcare, Director, Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity.

Other topics will include Cultural Competence in Dementia Care, Update on COVID-19 and concurrent breakout sessions.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for geriatricians, internists, family practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, pharmacists, physical therapy and other health professionals involved in caring for seniors.

FEES
Entire Series (March 9, 10, 17, 24)....................................................................................................$150
Registration for March 10 only...........................................................................................................$75

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $25 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on March 8, 2021. A handling fee of $25 will be deducted for cancellation. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by March 8, 2021. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible.

Objectives
  1. Identify challenges of 2020 including the COVID-19 pandemic and racial/ethnic inequities and impact on older adults and health care teams
  2. Recognize the growing diversity in the older population and include cultural competencies in patient care
  3. Identify approaches to and limits of management of specific disease of organ systems that are common in the elderly, e.g. Alzheimer’s Disease.
  4. Describe important research developments that influence the clinical care of geriatric patients.
  5. Describe the dynamic nature of current support of primary care practice
