Overview
While the incidence and mortality of most solid tumors is either decreasing or plateauing globally, a recent American Cancer Society report demonstrates that endometrial cancer is one of the only malignancies in which incidence and death rates are rising rapidly. This is a tremendous public health problem for woman worldwide. Moreover, racial disparities in incidence and mortality are worsening due to a rising incidence of aggressive endometrial cancer subtypes in Black women and other underrepresented minority populations. Understanding opportunities for endometrial cancer prevention, better treatment strategies, and the drivers of the increased incidence and mortality, including high and rising obesity rates, shifts in reproductive trends, and disparate increases in rare endometrial cancer subtypes is critical to halting these alarming trends and maximizing survival for women diagnosed with this disease. Led by Johns Hopkins faculty and a renowned line-up of nationally recognized experts, the 2022 Johns Hopkins Endometrial Cancer Symposium: How Preventive and Precision-Based Approaches will Improve Patient Outcomes provides a gathering for health care professionals who serve women with and without gynecologic malignancies to learn in an intimate conference environment which allows for in depth discussions of the latest data and challenges in the field of endometrial cancer and allows for innovative delivery of the content. This hybrid in-person/virtual activity is designed to change how providers may approach prevention of endometrial cancer and manage patients with endometrial cancer in their practices to enable providers to better care for their patients.

Objectives
  1. Identify epidemiologic trends in endometrial cancer incidence and mortality, risk factors for the disease, and strategies for prevention.
  2. Discuss the role and importance of molecular/genomic testing in endometrial cancer to identify actionable mutations that can be targeted with novel therapies.
  3. Incorporate the latest research findings and apply the role of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy in treating endometrial cancer into their practices, with a goal of optimizing patient survival and minimizing morbidity.
  4. Discover novel clinical trial design for implementing clinical trials for patients with rare endometrial cancers.
