Overview

Emergency airway management in critically ill patients outside the controlled setting of the operating room is associated with a higher incidence of difficult intubations, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. This full day activity will begin with didactic lectures of fundamental knowledge related to these procedures. The second half of the activity will provide participants valuable hands-on training with our interventional pulmonary staff in small groups with different techniques and equipment for managing the airway. This accredited education will address very specific skill sets that will help clinicians improve management of their patients’ care by offering simulation airway training which is associated with better outcomes, by way of multidisciplinary didactic lectures from our multidisciplinary faculty, who are formally trained in a wide spectrum of airway and interventional pulmonary procedures. This activity is designed to also provide learners with an interactive hands-on experience in percutaneous tracheostomy and advance airway management using cadavers.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for physicians with specialties in pulmonary and critical care, anesthesiology and critical care, and emergency medicine, as well as nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and respiratory therapists.
