Overview
This activity is designed to educate the practicing pulmonologist, chest surgeon, hospitalists, internist, and oncologist, as well as other health care professionals interested in the care of patients with pleural disease. Participants will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the management of pleural diseases and indications, best practices, and associated complications of common pleural procedures including thoracentesis, chest tube and indwelling pleural catheter placement, pleural biopsy and thoracoscopy. Cased based scenarios will be discussed in small group session led by our faculty in virtual break out rooms. We encourage RNs, NPs, and PAs with an interest in pleural disease to attend as well.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for practitioners in critical care medicine, emergency medicine, family practice, hospitalist medicine, internal medicine, multiple specialties, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pulmonary disease, and pulmonology.

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $25 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on September 21, 2021. A handling fee of $25 will be deducted for cancellation. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by September 21, 2021. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins activity in lieu of cancellation is not possible.

Objectives
  1. Interpret pleural pathophysiology
  2. Identify ultrasound practices to guide pleural intervention.
  3. Discuss, in detail, the evaluation and management of patients with pleural effusion and pneumothorax.
