Overview

This grant follows a recently completed CME program titled: Therapeutic Switching in MS: Implementing New Guidelines in Clinical Practice designed to address these 2018 AAN guidelines. This program was highly successful, delivering 186% to goal for learners (4,183 learners vs. a goal of 2,250) and 101% to goal for CME certificates issued (1,362 certificates vs. a goal of 1,350). While this CME program demonstrated important improvements in both knowledge and practice behavior change, important gaps remain that this follow-on program will address. Importantly, since the publication of these guidelines, new medications have been approved to treat MS. This educational program will also address these new agents, providing expert recommendations on their potential place in clinical practice. To address these issues, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHU SOM), in cooperation with Medical Logix, LLC will employ a clinically-focused video-based eCase Challenge content platform to maximize audience engagement and deliver further increases in knowledge and demonstrate practice behavior change. Video eCase Challenge activities use problem-based learning architectures that present a case study and support its application to day-to-day practice. Features include a video case presentation with accompanying slides, challenging clinical questions and expert commentary to create a compelling educational activity for participants. Delivery of this educational initiative will be via a multi-website campaign designed to deliver a guaranteed number of unique learners and CME certificates. Outcomes for this initiative are designed to deliver level 5 self-reported practice performance change.
