Overview

Overview

This course provides participants with the opportunity to reflect on teaching, practice skills, and learn instructional strategies in a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
This course meets virtually for 2 hours every week for 10 sessions. Participants work in collaborative learning communities of no more than 6.

Content and instructional methods are evidence-based and grounded in learning theory. Participants apply content and skills to their own teaching challenges and opportunities.

This course is intended for health professions educators of all levels of training and experience who are invested in developing their skills as teachers.

Objectives
  1. Name 4 core strategies to facilitate learning.
  2. Describe strategies to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  3. Describe the structural and supportive components of feedback in order to provide effective feedback to others.
  4. Compare and contrast features of large and small group teaching.
  5. Describe a model for designing sessions for teaching and learning.
  6. Name active learning strategies to engage learners in different teaching settings and to promote peer to peer learning.
