Overview
Johns Hopkins is committed to bringing evidence and expertise to the policymaking space as part of our mission for a healthier, more equitable world. The Lerner Center for Public Health Advocacy is hosting a multi-modal workshop that offers practical insights, knowledge, and skills to enhance influence with decisionmakers at all levels, from city councils to international governing bodies. It is open to academic faculty, staff, and clinicians contributing to public health initiatives.

Objectives
  1. Describe how policy is made and identify where and how you can impact policy related to your public health topic.
  2. Apply advocacy knowledge, skills, and tactics to promote policy change in your public health topic.
  3. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of possible policy asks related to your public health topic given the current context.
  4. Identify supporters and opponents of your public health topics, determine how to engage the right partners, and identify appropriate partnership strategies.
  5. Explain what lobbying is and determine what advocacy activities related to your public health topic do or do not meet the definition of lobbying.

Registration

All registrants must apply and receive an invitation to register. To apply, complete this form. For more information, visit the Lerner Center for Public Health Advocacy website.
