Overview
This half-day live conference will focus on obesity management and highlight the growth the GLP-1 agonists within weight loss management, detailing the underlying science and mechanism of action for these medications which have become increasingly utilized within obesity care. GLP-1 agonists have proven to effectively promote weight loss by managing blood sugar levels and regulating appetite and metabolism. Their impact is maximized when utilized in tandem with diet and exercise.

Objectives
  1. Identify the impact of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol prevalence and demographics in Bermuda.
  2. Analyze the prevalence of obesity in Bermuda and its impact on healthcare costs, access to care, and available treatment options.
  3. Examine the effects of obesity-related stigma on patients' overall well-being and discuss strategies for reducing bias in clinical care.
  4. Evaluate surgical treatment options and GLP-1 agonists, including their effectiveness and implications for high-risk populations.
