Overview
This activity is designed to educate and train the practicing pulmonologist, chest surgeon, emergency department physician, hospitalists, internist, and oncologist, as well as other health care professionals interested in the care of patients with pleural disease. Participants will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the management of pleural diseases and indications, best practices, and associated complications of common pleural procedures including thoracentesis, chest tube and indwelling pleural catheter placement, pleural biopsy and thoracoscopy. As part of this activity, there will be both classroom based didactics and practical hand-on training via a cadaver lab. We encourage RNs, NPs, and PAs with an interest in pleural disease to attend as well.

Objectives
  1. Define current approaches to the management of malignant pleural effusion.
  2. Identify proper patient selection for pleural evacuation in pneumothoracies.
