Overview
This half-day, 5-hour virtual conference aims to address the rising prevalence of mental health challenges in Bermuda. Our objective is to comprehensively explore mental health conditions across the lifespan, with a specific focus on gender-related concerns. Through this symposium, we aspire to enhance support for clients by effectively implementing and acknowledging the Recovery model. By delving into specific case management benefits, we aim to improve patient outcomes and establish agreed-upon treatment plans. Our approach centers on the integration of care, emphasizing the importance of coordination and collaboration for optimal patient results. We seek to expand mental healthcare services within the primary care setting, increase care coordination, and offer enhanced educational opportunities for mental health promotion and prevention in the realm of public health. Furthermore, we aim to recognize and address the stigma associated with mental health in a small jurisdiction, implementing efforts to combat it effectively. The ultimate goals include improving patient satisfaction, optimizing diagnosis, and refining treatment methods. Through a multidisciplinary approach, we aim to foster better collaboration, reducing communication errors and ensuring each patient receives the individualized care they require.

Objectives
  1. Recognize various mental health diagnoses throughout different stages of life and how they may manifest, and the recommended treatments associated with each.
  2. Identify gender-specific mental health disorders and diagnoses, along with more tailored treatments.
  3. Explain the Recovery model in practice, while emphasizing its role within the Bermuda community and beyond.
