This 22nd annual conference is intended as a practical overview for pathologists who encounter gastrointestinal and liver specimens in daily practice. Interpretation of biopsies of the upper GI tract mucosa and the liver will be addressed, as well as recent advances in pancreatic and biliary pathology. Case presentations will be featured to emphasize presented concepts. Participants should come away with a better understanding of interpretation of mucosal biopsies, liver biopsies, pancreatic/biliary disorders and the application of modern techniques to gastrointestinal disorders.

LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY
A $25 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on October 2, 2022. A handling fee of $25 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by October 2, 2022. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins activity in lieu of cancellation is not possible.


Objectives
  1. Recognize and diagnose the most common and important GI tract infections in pathology specimens by developing a differential diagnosis based on location, clinical context, and histological appearance.
  2. Recognize common and important mimics of IBD and examine their significance in the work-up of “colitis.”
  3. Explain the most recent recommendations for screening of anal dysplasia
  4. List cytomorphologic features of dysplastic and malignant lesions in anal cytology.
  5. Discuss recently described and emerging non-squamous HPV-associated lesions
  6. List histologic mimics of low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN).
  7. Describe the most reliable features in identifying invasive adenocarcinoma on frozen section.
  8. Identify the critical stains and immunohistochemical studies used the analysis of hepatocellular masses
  9. Identify typical patterns of immune-mediated injury across the tubular GI tract
  10. Describe histologic findings of fatty liver disease
  11. Describe how to diagnose dysplasia/malignancy arising in Barrett Esophagus
