Overview
While the incidence and mortality of most solid tumors is either decreasing or plateauing globally, endometrial cancer is one of the only malignancies in which incidence and death rates are rising at an alarming rate. Diagnoses of endometrial cancer have increased worldwide in recent years, with rates rising in more than half of 43 countries studied. And a 2022 report from the American Cancer Society now demonstrates that death rates for women diagnosed with endometrial cancer—a malignancy with a previously favorable prognosis overall--are now neck and neck with those of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a lethal malignancy. This is a tremendous public health problem for woman worldwide. Moreover, racial disparities in incidence and mortality are worsening due to a rising incidence of aggressive endometrial cancer subtypes in Black women. Understanding opportunities for endometrial cancer prevention, better treatment strategies, and the drivers of the increased incidence and mortality, including high and rising obesity rates, shifts in reproductive trends, and disparate increases in rare endometrial cancer subtypes, particularly in underrepresented minority populations, is critical to halting these alarming trends and maximizing survival for women and persons with a uterus diagnosed with this disease.

Led by Johns Hopkins faculty and a renowned line-up of nationally recognized endometrial cancer experts, the 2022 Johns Hopkins Endometrial Cancer Symposium: How Preventive and Precision-Based Approaches will Improve Patient Outcomes provides a gathering for health care professionals who serve women who are at risk for or are diagnosed with gynecologic malignancies to learn in an intimate conference environment which allows for in depth discussions of the latest data and challenges in the field of endometrial cancer and allows for innovative delivery of the content. This hybrid in-person/virtual activity is designed to change how providers may approach prevention of endometrial cancer and manage patients with endometrial cancer in their practices to enable providers to better care for their patients.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for physicians (OB/GYNs, primary care providers, internists, medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists and radiation oncologists), nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, OB/GYN residents, and GYN oncology and clinical oncology fellows.

FEES

Physicians/Nurses/NPs/PAs/Allied Health Professions (Virtual via Zoom) ........................ $ 100.00

Objectives
  1. Identify epidemiologic trends in endometrial cancer incidence and mortality, risk factors for the disease, and strategies for prevention.
  2. Discuss the role and importance of molecular/genomic testing in endometrial cancer to identify actionable mutations that can be targeted with novel therapies.
  3. Incorporate the latest research findings and apply the role of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy in treating endometrial cancer into their practices, with a goal of optimizing patient survival and minimizing morbidity.
  4. Discover novel clinical trial design for implementing clinical trials for patients with rare endometrial cancers.
