Overview
Topics in Clinical Medicine began over 60 years ago with the late Dr. Philip Tumulty’s belief that faculty should communicate not only its expertise in internal medicine, but also its collegiality and warmth. To maximize the intermingling between faculty and guests, Dr. Tumulty held the course at Hopkins (not a hotel), provided daily lunches with the faculty and conducted a variety of social events. The current course directors are Drs. Gail Berkenblit, Daniel Brotman, and Kimberly Peairs. In 2022, Topics remains a course dedicated to providing the best summaries of the advances in internal medicine and extending the hospitality of Johns Hopkins’ faculty.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for internal medicine, family practice, and hospitalist medicine physicians; physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals.

SYLLABUS
The syllabus will be accessible online and via your mobile device in the CloudCME App prior to the activity

HOW TO OBTAIN CREDIT
Post activity, an online evaluation will be available to attendees to evaluate the activity and individual presentations and to identify future educational needs. Upon completion of the evaluation, the learner must attest to the number of hours in attendance. Credits earned will be added to the learner’s transcript and immediately available for print. The last day to access the evaluation and attest to your credits is June 20, 2022. An outcome survey will be sent to all physician attendees within two months post activity to assist us in determining what impact this activity had on the learner’s practice.

Objectives
  1. Summarize recent updates, clinical studies, and practice-changing guidelines in general internal medicine.
  2. Describe innovations in medications and procedures that are applicable to a general medicine practice.
  3. Assess updates and clinical practice strategies in the areas of general internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, nephrology, pulmonology, psychiatry, and rheumatology.
  4. Obtain expert opinion and guidance through case discussions in “Meet the Professor” sessions.
