Overview
The Practicum in Health Professions Education (HPE) Research is an educational program where participants learn and apply fundamental research principles to a project related to the education or profesisonal development of health care providers. Faculty with HPE research projects at all stages, from study conceptualization to manuscript preparation are eligible. During the practicum, participants can receive up to 24 hours of CME credit as they work with the program's faculty and advance thier project over a 12 month period.

Objectives
  1. Clearly define a research question for your HPE research project. Explain why the question was chosen.
  2. Describe the conceptional framework guiding your selection of research methods.
  3. Justify the rationale for study design and data collection methods.
  4. Identify the rationale for specific qualitative and/or quantitative data analytic methods as it applies to their project.
  5. Describe general principles related to ethical HPE research conduct.
  6. Address ethical concerns relevant to your project.
  7. Identify appropriate venues (e.g., local presentations, conference abstracts, peer - reviewed manuscripts) to share their findings so they impact the appropriate audience.
  8. Effectively communicate findings for their chosen venue (e.g., in oral or written form).
  9. Identify areas for ongoing professional development in HPE research.
