Overview

The goal of the proposed educational program is to increase knowledge among pediatricians and primary care providers in the management of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), with a focus on improved diagnosis and treatment in line with the latest therapies. The target audience consists of pediatricians, internists, primary care providers, as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners in these specialties. The first step in our plan is to conduct an online survey to identify knowledge gaps in the primary care community in the management of AD involving both adults and children. We will next develop the content for an educational conference to address these gaps with the input of both allergy and dermatology AD experts on our program faculty. We will invite primary care providers from our region to the educational program on AD best practices at the Johns Hopkins Asthma Center in 2020. This program will provide a minimum of 4 hours of CME credit. Lectures, case presentations and audience response systems will be used to demonstrate management options in classic and complex cases of AD. The educational program will be recorded and developed into a series of webinars to be accessed by a larger number of health care providers. To measure the impact of the educational program, we will compare attendees pre and post program performance on knowledge assessments on the management of AD as well as compare post-attendance responses of attendees to a group of health care providers that did attend the program.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This activity is intended for pediatricians, internists, primary care providers, as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners in these specialties.

FEE

COMPLIMENTARY. There is no fee to attend.  This is a complimentary four hour educational session.

  3. Create an easy-to-access reliable and enduring information source for health care providers across disciplines for the overall care management of patients with atopic dermatitis
  4. Outline advances in health care provider knowledge on the impact of atopic dermatitis on psychosocial issues and quality of life.
