The Innovations in Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Medicine: The Continuum of Care Conference will be a two-day internet live conference. The focus of this conference is to educate the community of medical providers taking care of expecting mothers, neonates, infants and children under 5 years of age about the most common health issues affecting high-risk pregnancy and its impact to the developing child and their families.

Objectives
  1. Explain the importance of the continuum of care as a strategy to provide better care to families.
  2. Screen and diagnose maternal illness and high risk behavior in pre-conception and during pregnancy that will negatively impact neonatal and infant health.
  3. Recognize the complexity of factors involving pre-natal counseling of mothers at risk for delivery of periviable infant.
  4. Improve communication skills and adequate handoff among obstetrics and neonatal teams in the delivery room.
  5. Prescribe adequate vaccination schedule across the continuum (women at reproductive age, pregnant and NICU patients).
  6. Implement NICU-specific clinical practice guidelines and therapies to improve long-term outcomes of extremely premature infants.
  7. Explain how an interdisciplinary team approach can improve parental counseling.
  8. Describe ways to improve follow-up of high-risk families being discharged from the NICU, such as extreme premature infants, drug exposed infants, infants at high risk for neurodevelopment impairment or long term morbidity.
