Highlights will include: The Use of Simulation in the Care of the ECMO Patient, Plasmapheresis, Thrombocytopenia Associated Multi-Organ Failure (TAMOF), ECMO and the Adult Trauma Patient, Lung Transplant, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), CDH Bedside, Bival Experience. This conference is designed to focus on the use of extracorporeal life support (ECMO) to support neonates, children, and adults specifically in problems such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia and end stage lung and heart failure.

Attention Abstract Authors:

Objectives
  1. Identify the different types of anticoagulation used for ECMO and the mechanism of action of each one.
  2. Describe the difference in CDH outcomes when using VA ECMO versus VV ECMO.
  3. Describe different mobilization techniques used with ECMO patients and the benefits of these modalities.
  4. Explain the definition of TAMOF and describe the benefits of pheresis in these patients.
