The title of the module is "For Pharmacists: Communicating about Vaccines with Patients and Parents." The intended audience for this activity is healthcare providers (pharmacists, physicians, nurses, PAs, etc.). The purpose of this activity is to provide evidence-informed, best-practice guidance to healthcare providers for communicating effectively with patients in order to enhance patients' vaccine acceptance. This activity is an asynchronous, voice-over-PowerPoint enduring-material module, which includes practical background lecture content as well as relevant illustrative animated hypothetical case-based scenarios. The total duration of this activity, including post-test, is 1 hour.


Objectives
  1. Describe the features of the “presumptive approach” to communicate effectively with patients for encouraging and enhancing vaccine acceptance.
  2. Contrast the utility of the “presumptive approach” with the “participatory approach” in communicating with patients regarding vaccines.
  3. Apply strategies for addressing patient misperceptions, misinformation, and disinformation to encourage vaccination acceptance when communicating with patients.
  4. Describe the “5-step strategy” to communicate effectively with vaccine-hesitant patients for encouragingand enhancing vaccine acceptance.
