Overview
This is an online activity consisting of a one-hour video lecture designed to educate physicians about pain medicine management for chronic pain and depression and includes discussions on how to properly assess patients for treatment, how to identify the potential for possible overuse and abuse of prescription drugs, and how to identify FDA approved medications for the treatment of opioid dependence.

Objectives
  1. Chronic Pain and Depression: Identify the types and characteristics of depression in patients with chronic pain.
  2. Chronic Pain and Depression: Describe the distinguising characteristics, longitudinal relationship, and consequences of Major Depression Disorder and patients with chronic pain.
  3. Chronic Pain and Depression: List the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in chronic neuropathic pain and their relevance to depression.
  4. Chronic Pain and Depression: Contrast the psychopharmacological actions of the primary treatments of neuropathic pain.
