The hybrid course consists of an initial phase of interactive, asynchronous online learning, followed by an on-site immersive simulation training. The internet enduring material (phase one) will begin with 4 hours of online training to include: foundational knowledge on the concepts of RCDP, educational foundations, indications for use, key components of Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP), and introduction to developing an RCDP session. Completion of each online module will include a post-test and reflection narrative. Upon conclusion of the online course, learners will obtain a certificate of completion and given access to enrollment in the second phase of training.

Phase two will be an on-site two-day immersive study in RCDP, to be held at the Johns Hopkins Medicine Simulation Center's Simulation Hospital on the East Baltimore Campus. It will include small group work, team- and case-based learning activities, video review and discussion with expert trainers, and mentored practice in teaching RCDP's training methods. Expert instructors would be on hand, coaching and mentoring learners through the process. Phase two will also include implementation planning, where each attendee would design and present how they would incorporate RCDP into their home programs. The implementation plan would include a reporting structure to the Johns Hopkins RCDP team, so that continued mentoring and assessing the effectiveness of their training and outcomes can be provided. Successful completion of the RCDP Hybrid Master Trainer Course would result in learner classification as a "Certified RCDP Master Trainer." Development and implementation of this project will create a foundation for sharing the RCDP pedagogy to a wide audience, as well as standardize the training provided to RCDP instructors. Effective dissemination of this simulation training modality on a wider scale has the potential of creating teams that can provide faster, safer, and better-coordinated patient care.

Objectives
Upon participating in this activity, the learner should be able to:

  1. Integrate RCDP methodology into simulation-based education.
  2. Identify simulated intervention scenarios best-suited to RCDP.
  3. Design learner-centric simulations incorporating the "Pause-Prescribe-Replay" table.
  4. Craft measureable learning objectives incorporating standards and observable behaviors.
  5. Apply mastery and experimental learning theories to RCDP.
