Overview
The Institute for Excellence in Education (IEE) and the Office of the Vice Dean for Education, the Master of Education in the Health Professions, JHUSOM Office of Faculty Development, and the Johns Hopkins Faculty Development Program at the Bayview Medical Center are happy to announce the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine IEE Summer Teaching Camp 2018. Teaching Camp will bring together outstanding educators of medical and biomedical students, residents, fellows and biomedical doctoral and postdoctoral candidates, and peers to share ideas, refine teaching techniques and learn new methods. The first day of Teaching Camp will include our Foundations of Teaching and Learning course in the morning, and in the afternoon, pre-courses on exciting topics (3.5 hour sessions to promote deeper learning), and the second day will have new and relevant workshops.

Objectives
  1. List five features of a supportive learning environment.
  2. Name three adult learning principles.
  3. Describe a framework for feedback and coaching with learners that can be used in a variety of settings.
  4. Practice skills for feedback and coaching learners in a variety of educational settings.
  5. List three educational strategies to promote bedside teaching and learning.
  6. List three educational strategies for incorporating humanities when teaching in clinical settings.
  7. Describe a model to promote a more effective mentoring relationship.
  8. Name three specific recommendations for writing letters of reference for a learner.
  9. Practice writing meaningful individualized learning plans.
