Overview
Pediatric medicine continues to evolve rapidly, making it challenging for general pediatric practitioners to stay current with new standards of care, therapies, and medications. The goal of this course is to enhance knowledge and competence in pediatric medicine, supporting the integration of evidence based practices and current research into daily practice. The Activity Director collaborated with Pediatric Division leaders to identify high priority topics across subspecialties that are most relevant to the general pediatric practitioner. Sessions will cover emerging clinical issues, management strategies for common and complex conditions, and guidance on when referral to a tertiary care center is appropriate. Key topics include pediatric insomnia, obesity and asthma, ADHD, puberty management in patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the impact of vaping on youth mental health, among other updates in pediatric care.

Objectives
  1. Apply evidence based strategies for the assessment and management of pediatric insomnia.
  2. Evaluate the impact of obesity on asthma severity and incorporate interventions into patient care.
  3. Analyze current practices and emerging approaches in the diagnosis and management of pediatric ADHD.
  4. Implement strategies to guide puberty management in patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  5. Assess the effects of vaping on youth mental health and integrate prevention and counseling strategies into practice.
