Unfortunately, due to concerns surrounding the current state of affairs of Puerto Rico as a result of Hurricane Irma, this activity has had to relocate. Thoughts and prayers are with Puerto Rico and all the families affected by the disaster. We expect to return to San Juan once again in 2019.


DESCRIPTION

The 18th Annual Gastroenterology and Hepatology: Viva la Vida, scheduled for March 6 - 9, 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton in Cancun, Mexicowill provide, through formal lectures, questions and answer sessions, as well as interactive sessions such as hands-on demonstrations and interactive endoscopic cases from the Johns Hopkins Hospital, presentations of various gastrointestinal and liver disorders that will be of interest to practitioners in the field.  Course attendees will be updated in a series of symposia to include current approaches to patients with IBD, fatty liver disease, pancreatitis, hepatocellular cancer, advances in Hepatitis C treatment and hot new and emerging topics including anal intraepithelial neoplasia, considerations for anesthesia, surgical interventions for GERD, submucosal endoscopy and endoscopic palliative bypass procedures.  There will be a special symposia on bariatric weight loss including surgical options, endoscopic approaches and guidelines on how to build a bariatric program in your center. This year, the conference will focus on common clinical challenges faced by practitioners with clinical cases ranging from persistent abdominal pain, management of esophageal reflux, and intractable bloating.



Objectives
  1. Describe recent advances in inflammatory bowel disease including the role of surgery and the detection of cancer in these patients.
  2. Discuss new medical and surgical advances in treating liver disease, including pregnant patients.
  3. Discuss recent developments in the management of pancreatic disease, including pancreatic cysts, pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
  4. Discuss the management of the various esophageal diseases with recent developments in therapy.
  5. Describe recent advances in therapeutic endoscopy with a focus on endoscopic technique.

Accreditation
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

We look forward to welcoming attendees during an evening registration on Monday evening, March 5, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. You may pick up your conference materials at that time. There will also be on--site registration Tuesday morning.  The conference runs approximately 7 am - 12:30 pm each day with an afternoon optional workshop from 12:30 - 2:00 (pre-registration required).

You will receive a confirmation by e-mail. If you have not received it by February 26, 2018, call (410) 502-9634 to confirm that you are registered. A transcript of attendance will be available upon attestation of your credit hours and submission of the post activity online evaluation.The Johns Hopkins University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any activity due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event, the University will refund the registration fee but is not responsible for travel expenses. Additionally, we reserve the right to change the venue to a comparable venue. Under such circumstances registrants will be notified as soon as possible.


LATE FEE AND REFUND POLICY

A $50 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. ET on February 26, 2018. A handling fee of $50 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by February 26, 2018. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible.
