Maura McGuire, M.D., F.A.C.P., C.P.C.

Maura J. McGuire, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean for Part-Time Faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  She also serves as Senior Medical Director for Education in the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians (OHJP) and for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP). She has extensive experience in operations and implementation science, and has developed and studied learning systems to improve safety and effectiveness of primary care. 

She matriculated in the School of Medicine in 1979 after receiving her degree in chemical and biomedical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, and completed her medical training in Medicine as a member of the Osler house staff. After completing a fellowship in the Division of Hematology she joined the faculty in 1989, based in JHCP in the division of General Internal Medicine

Dr. McGuire has been extensively recognized for teaching in ambulatory medical settings.  Among her honors are the American College of Physicians Theodore E Woodward Award for Outstanding Contributions in Medical Education, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Professors Award for Excellence in Teaching in Clinical Sciences, the Alpha-Omega Alpha Part-Time Faculty Teaching Award, and numerous institutional teaching awards.  She continues practice general internal medicine in Baltimore
