Dr. McMahan is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University. She also earned her Master’s in Health Sciences degree in Clinical Investigation at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. McMahan joined the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center as full-time faculty and has built a strong collaborative relationship with the Johns Hopkins Gastroenterology Motility Group. She is currently funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and focuses her time on the study of the gastrointestinal complications of scleroderma and on caring for patients with scleroderma. She has multiple ongoing collaborations nationally and internationally in this area, and she is one of the co-leaders of the Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium Gastrointestinal Working group. She also served on the Board of Directors for the American College of Rheumatology from 2013-2017 and continues to remain actively involved in the College.
