Biographical Sketch

Dr. David M. Berman received his B.S. in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University, M.S. in Anatomy from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and his D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) from Nova Southeastern University. He joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in June 2001 after completing a pediatric residency at Schneider Children’s Hospital (Long Island Jewish Medical Center-Long Island Campus for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine) and a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine (Jackson Medical Center). He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. Teaching appointments with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (Assistant Professor) and the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine (Clinical Associate Professor). Dr. Berman has been the recipient of the Sub-Specialty Teaching award from both the USF and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Pediatric Residency Programs. He was the 2014 CDC Childhood Immunization Champion for the State of Florida. He received Best Consulting Physician, All Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine 2015.  Hospital committees include Infection Prevention Committee and Chair, Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. He serves as the Chair of the Florida Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics Immunization Committee and is the co-founder of Partners Immunizing Towards Community Health (PITCH). Areas of interest and research include medical education, antimicrobial stewardship, immunizations, infections in immunocompromised children, health care policy and gun violence prevention.
